The Soup and Stock Market

2211 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.

440 N. Water St., 276-4444

The success of their Bay View location prompted Soup Market owners David Jurena and Tim Talsky to open another location in the Milwaukee Public Market two years ago. Their delicious bisques, hearty soups and chilis as well as sandwiches, quiche and homemade vanilla root beer made by the owners themselves have made it a popular and convenient lunchtime spot. Soup’s On!

221 N. Water St.

Owner-cook Mary Krimmer rotates through a menu of 130 soups, serving at least four varieties each day, many unheard of in Milwaukee. Ginger parsnip soup? You bet! You can also sometimes find red bean and sausage, egg drop and chili. Many soups are vegetarian or vegan. All feature unique flavors, obviously prepared by caring hands over an open stove. The alluring aroma of spices in the soup pot is the first sensation greeting customers as they walk through the door. (D.L.) $. CC: MC, VS. 283-9244.
