Waupun’s Book Club is set to make the town known for more than its prison. Vocalist-guitarist Sam Sterk sounds a bit like Billy Corgan, but lyrically he is probably in a less-tortured place than the Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan frontman. Neo-psychedelic grinding and earnest, emo-esque pleading inform vignettes that highlight, but are not overpowered by, a Christian perspective. The quartet rocks in a manner befitting the harder edge of commercial alt-rock radio. As they more fully integrate all the influences listed on their MySpace page and further refine their own voice, Book Club has the potential to break out far beyond their hometown.

Given his political beliefs and past comments about women, is Judge Neil Gorsuch too out of touch with the mainstream to serve on the Supreme Court?
