The Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s latest production, I Am My Own Wife, features more than 30 characters—a feat that is especially impressive since it only features one actor, Michael Gotch. He works overtime to tell the remarkable true story of German transvestite Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, a resilient individual who survived the brutality of World War II and the Third Reich. This difficult, one-man drama opens tonight with a 7:30 p.m. performance. It runs through Oct. 5.

The new owners of the Shops of Grand Avenue have revealed a radical redesign for the mall, which will include a proposed grocery store, an urban marketplace and contemporary office spaces, as well as the potential for a new name. Will the new owners succeed where past owners have failed in turning Grand Avenue around?
