Since early on in her career Elaine Erickson has been drawn to African art. A collection of masks, beadwork, sculpture and other everyday items find a permanent home in the gallery she’s run for 17 years. But that’s not all you’ll find at her Third Ward exhibit space. Erickson exhibits the work of contemporary artists year round, representing a broad variety of styles and media. Her gallery was among the first to represent talented MIAD graduate Katie Musolff and established Milwaukee sculptor Rory Burke. Such is the relationship she’d established with artists like Joe Friebert, Schomer Lichtner and Ruth Grotenrath in their lifetime that they appointed her to manage their artistic estate.
