Auditions For Purely Elfish Reasons
Back in June, Director David Kaye was so excited about his first production meeting for For Purely Elfish Reasons that he posted on Facebook about it, saying that it, “could easily be the funniest and most fun show I've ever worked on.” He closed that post with: “Now we just need the actors to make these ideas come to life.”
Next month, they have a chance to figure out who the actors are going to be as they hold auditions for Jason Powell’s holiday musical comedy.
Kaye’s assertion that this is going to be the funniest thing he’s ever been a part of sounds promising. I still have vivid memories of the live staging of Cannibal! The Musical he was involved in some time ago. That was a really fun show. This sounds like it could be good too. The premise: Santa’s best elves are leaving the North Pole for what must be far more lucrative employment elsewhere. The big guy in red sends out a group of elves to try to recruit fresh talent. (Could be difficult. David Sedaris might have turned more than a few potential elves away.)
Auditions For Purely Elfish Reasons take place Aug. 14 - 16 at Waukesha Civic Theatre on 264 W. Main St. The show runs Dec. 2 - 18. Those auditioning will be asked to prepare 16 bars of a song and read from the script. An accompanist will be provided. For more information, visit the auditions’ events page on Facebook.
