Jean's Jazz Series: Mad About Brubeck - A Tribute to a Legend, and Vivo

Individual tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $5 for students.
2519 Northwestern Ave., Racine, WI, 53404

The Fine Arts Jazz Ensemble celebrates and explores the music of the late, great jazz pioneer Dave Brubeck. With his restlessly innovative musical mind, Brubeck constantly experimented with form, harmony and rhythm to create a singular swinging sound that caught on in a big way. You’ll hear favorites like “In Your Own Sweet Way,” “Blue Rondo Ala Turk,” and “Take Five,” performed in exciting new arrangements with inspired instrumental improvisations and some unique vocals.

From Sweetbottom to Oceans to Streetlife, 12-time WAMI winner Warren Wiegratz has long been a staple of the music scene. Now Wiegratz (saxophone, flute, melodica) has joined forces with vocalist Pam Duronio (a blend of Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughn) and guitarist Tim Stemper (master of classical, flamenco and rock riffs) to form Vivo (“I live”), a lively and contemporary jazz-pop, bossa-samba ensemble.
