The Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, 2220 N. Terrace Avenue, Milwaukee is pleased to present Species & Specimens, on view March 19 – May 25, 2014 with an opening reception the evening of Thursday, March 20, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. with a special members only preview from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m.  Karen Gunderman curated the exhibition that features eleven artists spanning several generations of faculty and alumni of the UWM Ceramics program. An artists talk with participating artists will be held opening night, Thursday March 20, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Species & Specimens Description
Species & Specimens brings together the work of eleven artists spanning several generations of faculty and alumni of the UWM Ceramics program. Their work comments on human interaction with the natural environment, using strategies from installation to small intimate objects. The Villa Terrace site and its unique interface with the urban and natural environment, its formal gardens and Lake Michigan, provides a counterpoint for multiple viewpoints the invited artists bring to the exhibition theme.

The Museum is located at 2220 N. Terrace Ave.  Public hours:  Wednesday - Sunday, 1-5 p.m.   General Admission:   $7/adult, $5/student, senior (62+) and veterans, Free for museum members, children 12 & under, and active military.   More information available at (414) 271-3656 or visit us at www.villaterracemuseum.org.
