In Tandem Theatre presents: 1959 Pink Thunderbird
In Tandem Theatre is thrilled to present James McLure’s comic 1959
Pink Thunderbird at the Tenth
Street Theatre, 628 N. 10th Street, Milwaukee from April 25, 2014 – May 18, 2014.
Companion pieces Laundry and Bourbon and Lone Star, collectively became the two acts of 1959 Pink Thunderbird. Laughter, tears and friendship abound in this pair of funny and insightful off-Broadway hits. McLure zeros in on the human comedy to provide a real slice of rural west Texas life just after the Vietnam War. In Laundry and Bourbon, we witness the hilarious town gossip and poignant life musings of three young women on the front porch one hot summer afternoon as liquor flows and tongues loosen. In Lone Star, two brothers are out back of a local bar the same hot summer evening. Ray, married to one of the women in Laundry and Bourbon and two years back from the war, vainly tries to recapture the glory days of his past with talk of girls, cars and candy bars alongside his younger brother, Roy.
