The Coalition of Photographic Arts presents “Transformation: An Exhibition” opening July 22 at the Pfister Hotel Pop-Up Gallery. Jurors Lynne Shumow and Daniel Herro from the Haggerty Museum of Art selected 15 pieces that reflect high standards of photographic excellence and originality.

“The transformation occurs when you take a digital image and apply it to a surface that has the ability to not only provide a tactile experience, but that literally conveys the emotion of the subject,” says CoPA president Pam Ferderbar. Partnering with CoPA on the exhibition is New Berlin printing company Prime Digital Media, which is printing and mounting the exhibition on 15 substrates of paper hand-selected by the jurors for maximum impact.

In the second room of the Pfister Pop-Up Gallery, CoPA founding member Tom Ferderbar will exhibit “Yosemite and the Tetons,” a series celebrating the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. Exhibition features large-scale black and white prints from the Yosemite Valley, made in 1958 when Ferderbar studied with famed landscape photographer Ansel Adams, and more recent photographs of the Tetons that Ferderbar made in 2013.

CoPA is a Milwaukee-based fine art photography organization that provides over 150 members with the tools resources and experiences to become better photographers. www.copamilwaukee.com
