The David Barnett Gallery presents our “50th Anniversary Exhibition”. The opening reception will be held on Gallery Night & Day, Friday, January 20, 2017 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 11:00am to 5:00pm. The gallery is located at 1024 E. State St. at Prospect Ave. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The David Barnett Gallery has supported and encouraged local artists since the founding of the gallery in 1966. The mission of the gallery was to show graduate student’s work from local colleges due to the minimal opportunities to show artwork in Milwaukee at the time. In 1968 the gallery began showing world renowned established masters such as Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec, Chagall, Miro, Dali, Kandinsky and Pissarro. The profits from these masters work enabled the gallery to fund the promotion and exhibition of unknown and emerging artists throughout Wisconsin.

This exhibition will feature artists exhibited since the inception of the gallery in 1966. Artists include Picasso, Chagall, Matisse, Miro, Avery, Van Dongen, Renoir, Rembrandt, Pissarro, Weisbuch, Masson, Dali, John Steuart Curry, Summers, Gutierrez, Rosenquist, Lichtenstein, Warhol, Kandinsky, Marini, Degas, Giacometti, Karen Hoepting, Katherine Hartley, Leonard Baskin, Currier & Ives, Homer and Altman. Wisconsin artists featured include Joseph Rozman, Reginald K. Gee, Alayna Rose, Karin Krohne Kaufman, Dan Muller, David Barnett, Joan Dvorsky, Tom Ferderbar, Francesco Spicuzza, Sylvia Spicuzza and Alicia Czechowski. Old Masters, African, Latin American, Indonesian, New Guinea and Haitian art will also be represented. Through April 15, 2017.
