Like film, theater is an art form that sometimes enjoys long gazes into the window. Theater about theater is among some of the most powerful. Ken Ludwig’s comedy Moon Over Buffalo is about a couple of actors who have been married for a long time. The 1995 play is set in 1953. Charlotte and George Hay are traveling with a couple of shows. They find themselves in Buffalo in rotating rep with productions of Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives.
It’s a fun comedy that should be all the more fun in the upcoming SummerStage production. SummerStage performs at Lapham Peak State Park in Delafield. An enjoyably light comedy in a peaceful outdoor setting should be a perfect little getaway for summer. The show is directed by Zach Thomas Woods. A talented actor in his own right, Woods has worked with Kohl’s Wild Theater and Skylight Music Theatre. He’s a relatively young actor who should bring an interesting perspective to the production.
SummerStage’s production of Moon Over Buffalo runs Jul. 16-Aug. 1. For more information, visit SummerStage online.
