‘Moses(es)’
Lynden Sculpture Garden
2145 W. Brown Deer Road
2 p.m., Saturday, July 18
Milwaukee native Reggie Wilson founded his acclaimed Fist & Heel Performance Group in Brooklyn in 1989 to investigate the traditional rhythmic body languages of African and Caribbean dance in the light of postmodernism. He’s spent the last two weeks in the Lynden Sculpture Garden devising a site-specific work with an intergenerational group of community performers, a new version of his widely acclaimed Moses(es), a dance performance inspired by Zora Neale Hurston’s book Moses, Man of the Mountain and his own travels to Israel, Egypt, Turkey and Mali. This outdoor performance is a co-production with Alverno Presents.
