The 13th annual, Door County Festival of Fine Arts is scheduled for August 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sister Bay Village Hall, on the Door Peninsula.
The entire herd of decorated goats from the Goats on Poles Project will be up for auction at the festival. More than 20 of the decorated “Goats on Poles” will be auctioned off at 4:30 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Sister Bay Advancement Association.
The Goats on Poles Project is an effort by Door County Festival of Fine Arts organizers to increase awareness of the DC Festival of Fine Arts, the Door County art community, and to have some fun with public art.
“Sister Bay is undergoing a downtown overhaul, which means the Goats on Poles project will have to change in 2016,” said Ron Kane, DCFA chairman. “So many people have inquired about purchasing the decorated goats, we decided to give people an opportunity to purchase them, and raise some money for future public art projects.
Each artist who participates in the festival shows off their talent not only by selling their finished pieces of fine art, but by demonstrating their artistic process to the public at least two scheduled times during the day.

These live demonstrations by each artist are unique to the Door County Festival of Fine Arts. This brings an air of participation and engagement from the public to the festival.
For the fourth year, artistically talented students from Door County schools are invited to become a professional artist for the day. They will display and sell their artwork, and get advice from professional artists on how to make a living in art.
As a means to engage creative minds of any artistic level, the DCFA hosts an Activities Tent, where art lovers of all ages can unleash their creativity through a variety of mediums.
“When you give children (and adults) an opportunity, they express themselves effortlessly, all you have to do is get out of their way,” said Tom Seagard, a mixed media artist involved with the festival.
Also returning this year, is a free entry drawing for pieces of fine artwork donated by participating DCFA artists. Anyone who attends the Festival is eligible to enter and receive a free raffle ticket.
