Milwaukee Jazz Institute - An Evening of Latin Jazz
Here we are in 2023 and politics seems to rule the day, in this case specifically jazz music. Orlando “Maraca” Valle recently faced challenges to plans in getting a visa to travel to the United States, including a date in Milwaukee. Additionally, a power outage in Havana, Cuba meant rescheduling appointments as well.
According to the event sponsor Milwaukee Jazz Institute https://www.milwaukeejazzinstitute.org/ , as of August 17, Cuban jazz musician Orlando “Maraca” Valle has not been granted a visa allowing him to perform in the United States. The 8 p.m. Friday concert at Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel will still be presented with Grammy Award winner trumpeter Brian Lynch joined by tenor saxophonist Carlos Averhoff Jr.
