Milwaukee Polka Riot
- Saturday, September 5
- Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, 1001 E. Locust St.
Polka music has deep roots in Milwaukee, but Milwaukee Polka Riot showcases the unusual world of “alternative polka,” like local group November Criminals, who blend hip hop and polka. Other groups at this year’s fest include The Polkaholics (who play polka on guitars instead of traditional instruments), Good Friends Klezmer Band, The Frantastic Sound System, Bluesy Floozy and Forro Fo Sho (forro is a kind of like a Brazilian polka). A lot of new takes on this classic sound.
The show is 2-11 p.m. For more info, see: milwaukeepolkariot.com

Argren Faire

- Black Husky, 909 E. Locust St.
This is the third year for Riverwest’s own Renaissance Faire. The festival transforms Locust Street into Argren, with art vendors, an author’s alley, live action role playing, dance lessons, costume and beard contests, music, food and drink.
The faire is 12-8 p.m. and free to attend.
