‘Sacred Rhythm Mother’ Opening at Tosa’s Firefly Grove Park

Sacred Rhythm Mother, designed and developed by the artist team Walk the Willow, held its grand opening and dedication ceremony on August 28, 2026, at Firefly Grove Park, Wauwatosa. 

Sacred Rhythm Mother is located in the southeast corner of Firefly Grove park spanning from midway up the large hill to its base, ensuring sledding is not affected in winter. The sculptures are made from buckthorn, willow, driftwood along with other natural materials, recycled metal, recycled wood and found objects. A metal armature serves as the “skeleton” of the art. 

“With the addition of Sacred Rhythm Mother, Wauwatosa is officially a public arts destination. It not only perfectly fits into the park, but is changing the way we experience art. We are used to seeing art hanging flat on a wall, but with Sacred Rhythm Mother, you can literally walk inside the sculpture and feel the story it tells from the inside out,” says Beth Gleesing, Discover Wauwatosa tourism specialist. 

“Getting to play with sticks for a living and in this beautiful community, what a magical experience this past month has been,” says artist Justin Roberts. “What makes this piece unique is its ability to relate on so many different levels of life within this community and the volunteers who made her a reality.”
