stablished earlier this year, Maria Pretzl and Nate Schardin’s Traveling Lemur Productions, LLC is an organization which will be focussing on “video production & theatrical services.” Cool. Curtains would like to deliver a hearty welcome to The Lemurs.
This coming July 10, Traveling Lemur will host an evening of staged readings as a fundraiser. This month, they’re looking to cast for that fundraiser. Auditions for Traveling Lemur’s Night of Staged Readings will take place on Jun. 16 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The auditions take place at The Underground Collaborative on 161 W. Wisconsin. Prospective talent is asked to prepare a monologue. Material will be provided as needed.
There are three shorts in the program. Here’s the list complete with descriptions drawn from the auditions’ Facebook Event Site:
Ghost Hope Road by Rob Novack:
It's a 5-character play about a stripper who murders her merchant marine "fiance" to collect the insurance money... Only he comes back to find her ten years later. And of course it takes place in a small town Northwoods sheriff's office. Think bigfoot, hodags, Twin Peaks, and a blizzard.
Naked Tuesdays by Maria Pretzl:
Neil’s comfortable life is turned upside upon the return of his old college roommate Matt. This normally wouldn’t be a problem if Neil didn’t invite his protégé Cassie to spend the summer with him.
Any Day Now by Nat Cassidy:
As the world wrestles with the sociological, biological, and theological meanings behind unexplained resurrections of the recently deceased, one Connecticut family learns that what they thought was buried may in fact devour them all.
