Milwaukee comedy guy Patrick Schmitz clearly had a good time working on a feature-length parody of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet last year. This summer, Schmitz returns to Shakespeare once more with Hamlet...kinda sorta. As witnessed by Romeo and Juliet last year, Schmitz has a really clever grasp of some of the absurdities in Shakespeare’s drama. Having worked in local comedy pretty extensively, Schmitz also has a really talented pool of funnypeople to work with in any production, so this should be good.
The show doesn’t get staged until late this summer, (August in fact,) but Schmitz is looking to raise funds for the show at the end of next month with a fundraiser for the show at ComedySportz Milwaukee. The show will feature improv, raffle prizes and everything you might hope for from an evening at ComedySportz.
The Fundraiser for Patrick Schmitz’s The Comedy of Hamlet...kinda sorts takes place on Saturday, May 30 starting at 7 p.m. on 420 S. 1st St. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
