Splinter Group will be staging a trio of one-acts on a pair of performances next month. Splinter Stripped is being billed as, “A night of One-Acts, stripped to the basics.” Here’s a look:
The Other Room by Ariadne Blayde is about an autistic teenaged astronomer. The events of the play spark from a chance encounter with a popular girl who is interested in astronomy. The staging is directed by Gale Childs Daly. Included in the cast are JJ Gatesman, Kathiamarice Lopez, Marques Causey, Mark Turner, Madeline Wakley and Andrew Stachurski
Feeding the Moonfish by Barbara Weichmann is one that I’ve seen before in a studio staging featuring one of my favorite actresses. A young man seeks solitude on the edge of a saltwater lake in Florida. He thinks he’s alone, but he’s not as he is being spied on by a young woman named Eden. This production is being directed by Tessara Morgan. Male and female leads are played by Josh Krause and Samantha Martinson
Star Eyes and Lifeguard by Jim Farrell involves a meeting between a lifeguard and a woman who suffered from a severe accident years in the past. Niffer Clarke directs a cast including Amy Hansmann, Kristin Johnson, and Jake Brockmann.
Splinter Stripped will be performed Jul. 17 and 18. Both shows start at 7:30 p.m. For more information and ticket reservations, visit the show’s page on Brown Paper Tickets.
