The writing team of Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten has produced a number of commercial comedies that have been produced all over the country over the years. It’s light comic stuff that appears to be deeply-rooted in Texas. The group’s website makes the claim that they’re the most produced playwrights in the U.S. With over 3,300 productions over the years, that claim might be kind of hard to refute.
The latest local production of a Jones, Hope, Wooten comedy comes to the greater Milwaukee area is Always a Bridesmaid. Port Washington’s Memories Dinner Theater brings the comedy of four women to the stage. The night of their Senior Prom, four girls make a promise to each other. Come what may, they will all be in each other’s weddings.
The ensemble includes Katie Merriman, who recently manage the impressive task of helping to put together a memorable production of Hamlet with Bard and Bourbon. Also in the cast are Carrie Gleba, Lynn Klemm, Sharon Quinn, Heather Hernandez and Tara Williams.
Memories Dinner Theater’s production of Always a Bridesmaid runs April 17-26. For more information, visit memoriesballroom.com.
