“I Can Tell A Story” Exhibit
Inspiration Studios 1500 S. 73rd St., West Allis, Wisconsin 53214
Inspiration Studios welcomes a collaborative exhibit to its West Allis gallery titled I Can Tell A Story. The exhibit will adorn the gallery walls at 1500 S. 73rd Street, July 28 through August 26. An Opening Reception will take place with the artists will take place on Saturday, July 28, 7:00-10:00pm. The reception is free and open to the public.
I Can Tell A Story will feature a variety of art in the specific styles and mediums of each artist. The gallery will be transformed with the mix of colorful story-telling media from the following artists. Each has their unique way of telling their stories through installation works or pieces that stand alone.
Amy Lynn Marks will display a variety of fiber art, jewelry, mixed media, and handmade objects. “I often work with yarn and felt,” explains Marks, “knitting and sewing women's work combined with found, antique ephemera. When combining materials, I imagine that I'm working with a silent partner, the owner and creators of found objects that I use.
Billy Judge Waldus will display original large scale prints with titles reminiscent of his surf-punk rock’n roll band, Uncle Larry, which produced a poster for nearly every show they performed. Beginning with pencil sketches, Waldus uses typography, halftone textures and shading to create simple poster designs with a limited color pallet that reflect the dynamic energy the band carried to the stage.
Anna Stone‘s paintings in acrylics and oils are a physical extension of Spirit. “I am always amazed to find an answer or a message from something larger than myself in each of my pieces,” she said. “The work is never planned or pre-meditated; it simply emerges as I apply the paint to canvas.”

Heather Eiden strives to tell stories, to create inspiration, and to awaken emotions through her clay story tiles. She explains, “While a single ceramic tile can fit in the palm of your hand, a combination of them can tell endless stories and provide a springboard to self-discovery. I have had the privilege of sitting at the feet of master artists around the world telling stories through their own artistic media. Using carving skills I learned in Bali, I make low relief designs in clay tiles, using elements of movement, pattern and color to develop strong narratives. I strive to be an established artist using world folk traditions as a tool.”
Jill Engel-Miller is drawn to the narrative landscape of her surroundings. Trained as a ceramic artist, her work has shifted as she began exploring new materials that allow her to tell stories using non-traditional hand work techniques and materials. “I embrace the banal, the unexpected, the disenfranchised, and the nitty-gritty."
The opening reception for this creative exhibit, I Can Tell A Story, is Saturday, July 28, 7:00-10:00PM. The reception is free and open to the public at Inspiration Studios, 1500 S. 73rd Street. Complimentary refreshments and appetizers will be served.
