With the exhibition Milwaukee Collects, the Milwaukee Art Museum celebrates the breadth of art treasures in the Greater Milwaukee area—works of art that are typically not on public view. Drawing from both well-known collections and newly discovered gems, the exhibition features artworks that span centuries, media, and artistic styles. Early American paintings, contemporary sculpture, icons of modern photography, Impressionist canvases, hallmarks of Art Deco design, and more—by artists from Jules Chéret to Ed Ruscha—bring the community’s passion for and commitment to collecting into focus.
