small towns: drawings by leon travanti
On view: August 29 - December 9, 2018
Milwaukee artist and retired UW-Milwaukee art educator Leon Travanti reveals his fascination with river towns and small towns, all with resplendent main streets. Travanti’s drawings and watercolors of Midwestern main streets breathe an air of familiarity and fancifulness, as the artist transforms and finds patterns of repetition and variety that he revises for their own playful elegance.
Art from the Jepson Collection
On view: August 29, 2018 - January 13, 2019
Judy Jepson and her late husband Noel collected art depicting Cedarburg while they maintained the historic, Victorian home of E.G. Wurthmann. The collection includes works spanning more than a century by notable artists such as Bernhard Schneider, Morley Hicks, Paul Hammersmith, and Harold Hansen. Wurthmann's design elements can be seen in buildings throughout the area, and samples of his plaster, exemplary signage, and ethereal painting will be on view. This exhibition emphasizes Judy Jepson's love art and artifacts of Cedarburg and celebrates the forthcoming gift of her entire Cedarburg collection to the City of Cedarburg. This exhibition is made possible through the generous support of Levy & Levy, S.C., Attorneys at Law
Opening reception: 5-7pm
