Pale lagers have been given a bad reputation by fizzy yellow mass marketed beers loaded with adjuncts. Strip that all away and you’re naked. Quite literally.
Totally Naked from New Glarus is a beer that’s as naked as its name says—pure and clean, with nothing to hide and no artificial additives.
Its arrival on the shelves signals the coming of summer. Hopefully Mother Nature got the memo.
Tasting Notes
Sun-soaked cornstalks grace the nose with clean herbal accompaniments, drawing out golden buttered biscuits and floral lilac notes. The doughy character follows through in the flavor, as if honey is now drizzled on the aforementioned biscuits. A caramel corn kiss graces the tongue, recessing quickly and cleanly, perfectly timed with the diminishing effervescence. The noble hops work in the background, with crispness and no bitterness. Cane sugar-sweetened oats hum in the finish. This is pale lager drinking at its best: naked.
