"Lately"
YouTube is littered with unwatched music videos. Every week, artists throw time, money and resources into forgettable videos that few people will ever see, but occasionally one gets it right and strikes a chord. Earlier this year, Milwaukee rapper WebsterX introduced himself to audiences outside of the city with his gorgeous video for "Doomsday," a striking piece of filmmaking from directors Cody Laplant and Damien Klaven. Those two return behind the camera for WebsterX's latest single, "Lately," and the results are similarly transfixing—an impressionistic tale of rebirth and redemption that lingers well after the song is over. If more music videos were this artfully done, more people would watch music videos.
