Last week on The Disclaimer, WMSE's weekly panel with Ryan Schleicher, Matt Wild and I, we discussed some recent Bay View development proposals and how different Milwaukee neighborhoods view and greet development. But as is often the case with our modest little show, we admitted there was a lot we didn't know, so this week we brought in a guest who's an expert in these things: Urban Milwaukee's Jeramey Jannene. He fills us in on how re-zoning proposals in Milwaukee are supposed to work, and how they actually work, and compares Milwaukee's development initiatives to those in other cities and states. He also previews an upcoming conference addressing the city's empty storefronts and offers some important reminders about the ways development helps communities.
