The Ring, 9 p.m. Some venue needed to step up and host music on Christmas Day, and The Ring, a new club on 113 W. Virginia Ave., volunteered with an evening of noisy electronic music and Indian food. The musicprovided by Space Cabinet, The Demix, Anarchist Noize Machine and Stagedivercouldn't be less Christmasy. The Demix's blend of eerie ambiance, jackhammer beats and turntablism, for instance, often sounds like watching an old horror film as an unusually productive construction team tears apart the street outside.

The issue of Abortion (and it's related issue of e...

The issue of Abortion (and it's related issue of embryonic stem cell research) shows a major difference between the present alignment of Democrat/Liberal vs. Republican/Conservative. It's not so much an issue of money, such as income-redistributing have-nots vs wealth-protecting haves. Since only a small part of America are the actual "haves", they need to make up the rest of their 51% of the vote by attracting a large portion of the have-nots. In this case, they divide the have-nots into acceptance of differing views and lifestyles vs. enforcing conformance on others around them. The conformance enforcement view goes right along with capitalist dollars = votes rule, aka "he who has the gold makes the rules". A business is not a democracy.
This is also why conservative Republicans can be very vocal and demanding in these times, they have no problem with pushing their views on others, just like some fundamentalist religious causes like Evangelical Christians and Muslim extremists.
At the same time, liberal Democrats have been accused of not speaking up in this election cycle, criticized for not standing up and fighting back. I think this turn the other cheek response is due to that core acceptance of differences. Liberal Democrats know that others are free to be greedy entrepeneurs, free-speech hateful bigots, or whatever, so it is not in their spirit to shout them down.
It is NOT a level playing field. This difference in have-nots behavior will serve business leaders well in maintaining minority rule, especially when all the media outlets are controlled by money.
On the abortion issue, it's like if the conservatives can take away all the methods of avoiding consequences (birth control) or un-doing consequences (abortion), it is hoped they can force other people to live life their way.
Funny, the "pill" was also the American woman's greatest tool for landing Mr. Deep Pockets. Play their little sexual game, let him have some fun so that he stops using condoms, puts his trust in her using the pill. Meanwhile she can evaluate his financial means before she blindsides him with a surprise pregnancy. If his provider abilities were not up to snuff, stay on that pill, find another reason to dump him. So long as doing the right thing was the norm and divorce needed serious grounds, this worked well. -- But, with DNA testing on one hand and no fault divorce on the other, now it's time to put the brakes on the pill.

until birth control and family planning (not just about procreation but about family budgets, home life, psychology of relationships, nurturing children and so on) are freely available to everyone in the world, female and male; and the absurd religious ideas of procreation at all costs are ended; free, safe, legal abortion must be available to all, without any intimidation or judgment or "waiting time" or parental consent or any other hindrances. and or health and other reasons such as rape or incest, free, safe, legal abortion should always be available for all. it is up to the pregnant woman to decide what her best choice is; it is her body, her life, her choice.
