South Carolina alternative songwriter Edwin McCain scored one of the biggest hits of 1998 with his hearty ballad “I'll Be,” and although it seems unlikely he'll ever match that song's success, he's continued recording and touring steadily behind soulful roots-pop that has changed little over the years. This fall he released his latest album, Mercy Bound, which was produced by fellow songwriter Maia Sharp.
