In the ’90s a slew of vaguely rootsy alternative rock bands like The Gin Blossoms, Tonic and Matchbox 20 brought a little bit of country twang to non-CCM airwaves. Memphis’ Ingram Hill picks up where those bands left off, crafting polished little adult-alternative songs with just enough of a roots-rock twinge to let them co-exist in country circles as well. The band, whose latest release, Cold in California, sparkles with the clean production of a Top 40 album, plays an 8 p.m. show tonight at Shank Hall.

Compare the student achievement of Nicolet student...

Compare the student achievement of Nicolet students and MPS students...OK, compare them to Rufus King students. Rufus King is the top ranked high school in the state...an MPS school is the top ranked school in the state. Yet no one ever mentions anything that has to do with Rufus King. Where is the vision and planning that brought that about and continues to make it happen, even under the current circumstances?

I always thought the Democrats were the freinds of organized labor. This bill is a direct stab to the heart of the MTEA. I am certain that the Nicolet district has tenure, but there is no call to bust their union. Tenure is not the problem. Teachers are not the problem. These people are no friends of public education. This act will be remembered on election day!

Compare the student achievement of Nicolet students and MPS students...something has to be done to fix the abysmal results so far of MPS students. Yes, Democrats are friends of the teachers union and look how it has benefited the children in Milw.

Take a look at some demographics. If seniority and tenure were problematic, why is there no call to repeal them in the suburban districts? Because those issues are not the problem. The problem is, we serve a VASTLY different demographic than the suburban districts. Those problems are not my fault. The vast majority of MPS teachers do an amazing job in the face of adversity on a daily basis. Perhaps you should try teaching at my school for a few days before you place all the blame for our problems at the teacher's feet.

Just one note.

Chapter 65.90 requires all local government entities in Wisconsin to publish a proposed budget and no sooner than 15 days later hold a public hearing on that budget prior to taking any action. Under this proposed law, it appears that MPS would be exempted, that not only would elected officials be shut out, but the public would be too.

Nice. And to think that Obama was once a community organizer.
