Ruthie has happily worked with the Shepherd Express team for the last several years where her column “Dear Ruthie” appears weekly. A fixture in Milwaukee’s alternative press for more than 20 years, her advice column, “Dear Ruthie” originally appeared in The Wisconsin Light newspaper before morphing into “Ruthie’s Bitchin’ Kitchen,” a food column ultimately published in Quest magazine.
She founded her own charity, Ruthie’s Kennel Club, in 2013 as a means to financially support Wisconsin’s many animal-related charities. She also produces and stars in her own web series, “Ruthie’s Bitchin’ Kitchen,” a show focusing on no-fuss recipes and kitchen hacks.
An actress, comedian and all-around girl about town, Ruthie has starred in numerous professional productions, including “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane,” “Auntie Mame,” “The Women,” “Die, Mommy, Die” and “The Creature from the Black, Black Lagoon: The Musical.”
She continues to perform regularly, most often as hostess of the weekly HamBingo charity night at Hamburger Mary’s restaurant. You can catch her as Joan Rivers in “Ruthie’s Starry Night Revue” the first Sunday of every month at Hamburger Mary’s as well.
