Author Anthony Bukoski will discuss his new book, "Head of the Lakes: Selected Stories," at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2nd in the lower level meeting room of the Shorewood Village Center, 3920 North Murray Avenue.
In "Head of the Lakes," Bukoski revives Superior, Wisconsin’s Polish Americans and the blue-collar community from its boom days in the post-World War II era to its decline and near disappearance in recent times. Bukoski, Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, will read from "Head of the Lakes," take questions from the audience, and sign copies of his books.
Bukoski earned his Master of Arts in English from Brown University and a Master of Fine Arts in fiction as well as a PhD from Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He is the author of several short story collections including "Polonaise: Stories," "Time Between Trains: Stories," and "North of the Port: Stories," and his stories have been read on Wisconsin Public Radio and National Public Radio. He is a Fellow of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, and lives with his wife in the country outside of Superior, Wisconsin.
