Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Door Community Auditorium 3926 Highway 42, Fish Creek, Wisconsin 54212
On Friday, August 3, at 8 p.m., beloved South African a cappella group Ladysmith Black Mambazo will take the stage at Door Community Auditorium (DCA) in Fish Creek.
For more than fifty years, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has been making joyous music, fusing Christian gospel styles with the intricate rhythms and harmonies of South African Zulu songs. The renowned nine-member men’s a cappella group was already famous in South Africa when Paul Simon featured their now-trademark vocals on his 1986 album “Graceland,” introducing them to audiences in the United States and across the world.
The Telegraph praises Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s “wonderful, warm-as-toast singing” and “intoxicating spirit of joy.”
In addition to their work with Paul Simon, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has recorded with numerous artists from around the world, including Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Sarah McLachlan, Josh Groban, Emmylou Harris, and Melissa Etheridge. All told, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has recorded more than forty albums, sold more than six million records, won five Grammys, and traveled the world with their timeless message of peace, love, and harmony
Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s performance is made possible with support from major sponsor Door County Medical Center, as well as supporting sponsors Elizabeth Barker and Wisconsin Public Radio.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo will perform at DCA at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3. Tickets for the concert range from $29 to $56. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek.
