Singer-Songwriter Shawn Colvin

On Monday, July 30, at 8 p.m., singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin (“Sunny Came Home”) will take the stage at Door Community Auditorium (DCA) in Fish Creek. In addition to normal tickets, which range from $45-68, DCA is offering a special “Meet and Greet Package” for Colvin’s show, featuring a premium ticket, personal photograph with Shawn Colvin, private pre-show acoustic performance and Q&A with Shawn Colvin, special Shawn Colvin merchandise, and more.

Shawn Colvin is a singular and enduring talent. Her debut record won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 1991, but it was her 1997 single “Sunny Came Home” that catapulted her into the public eye. Twelve albums and two more Grammy Awards later, Shawn Colvin is better than ever, collaborating with people like Mary Chapin Carpenter, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, James Taylor, and Lyle Lovett. While she’s a vocalist and guitarist of “stratospheric skill” (No Depression), Shawn Colvin is equally adept as a storyteller. Keen and warm-hearted, she leavens even the toughest tales with tenderness, empathy and a searing sense of humor.

The Guardian raves that Colvin’s performances feature “extraordinary songs, mesmerizing guitar playing, and a voice that goes effortlessly from bruise-tender to scar-hard in a matter of minutes.”

Colvin was recently recognized for her career accomplishments when she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Trailblazer Award at the 2016 Americana Honors & Awards Show. When Bonnie Raitt presented Colvin with the award, she said, “[Shawn Colvin is] simply one of the best singers I’ve ever heard— and a truly gifted and deep songwriter and guitarist…. She was groundbreaking when she emerged and continues to inspire me and the legions of fans and other singer/songwriters coming up in her wake.”

Shawn Colvin will perform at DCA at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30. Tickets for the concert range from $45 to $68. Tickets for the “Meet and Greet Package” are $162.14. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek.
