The Lone Bellow Brings “Brooklyn Country Music” to DCA
Door Community Auditorium 3926 Highway 42, Fish Creek, Wisconsin 54212
On Tuesday, December 4, at 7 p.m., Brooklyn indie folk trio The Lone Bellow will take the stage at Door Community Auditorium (DCA) in Fish Creek.
The Lone Bellow sings what they call “Brooklyn country music”: beautiful, sincere, exquisitely harmonized folk-pop songs. With their belting, soulful voices, any of the three members of The Lone Bellow (Zach Williams, Kanene Donehey Pipkin, and Brian Elmquist) would make a formidable solo act. Together, the Brooklyn-based indie-folk trio multiplies that talent, exploring distant galaxies of harmony and countermelody.
Acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin and plenty of foot stomping form a roiling undercurrent for The Lone Bellow’s earnest, tempestuous and ecstatic songs. The band does not rely on musical smoke and mirrors—just soaring, heartfelt vocal performances.
NPR raved, “If there’s a secret to the warm, wide-open sound of The Lone Bellow, it lies in absolute sincerity and commitment: As playful as their live shows can be, Zach Williams, Kanene Donehey Pipkin and Brian Elmquist perform with openhearted, vein-bursting conviction.”
Opening the show is “Texas Piano Man” Robert Ellis, who (according to the New York Times) sounds “equally inspired by Jackson Browne and George Jones.” Ellis’s songwriting ability is equal to his encyclopedic knowledge of the true songwriting greats, and it shines through in the young troubadour’s music.
The Lone Bellow’s performance is made possible with support from presenting sponsor Door County Living and supporting sponsor Arbor Crowne Properties.
The Lone Bellow will perform at DCA at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4. Tickets for the concert range from $25 to $48. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12:00-5:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in person, on the phone at (920) 868-2728, or online at www.dcauditorium.org.
