Better Breakbeat Bureau and Prime Friday's are proud to bring Milwaukee the legend himself, DJ Pierre. This man needs no introduction to our scene. Legend, says it all.

Nathaniel Pierre Jones, better known by his stage name DJ Pierre, is an American DJ and performer of house music based in Chicago. He helped to develop the house music subgenre of acid house, as member of Phuture, whose 1987 EP Acid Tracks, is considered the first acid-house recording.

Since pioneering this new direction within dance music, DJ Pierre has had an impressive and prolific career and what’s more he’s never strayed from his roots back in 80’s Chicago. Initially his love of music and technology allowed him to suddenly blossom from making music in his parent’s basement to becoming a key player in house music’s formative years. By the late 80’s DJ Pierre was synonymous with the acid house sound, as well as highly respected DJ. Traits that ring true to his day.

“My music is the center of my world”, says the beat master “Once I get the vibe going, I can’t stop. It’s an intense feeling, fusing the rhythm and beats in an underground groove that makes the dance floor shake and people move. It’s a very spiritual evolution for me — one that I take very seriously.”

More than just a producers’ producer, Pierre is the unconventional king of the hard-core house mixers and a visionary. One of the original producers of the 80’s Chicago scene. Pierre fuses together scorching acid grooves with pulsating beats, laden with the sultry vocal samples “I’m more or less a minority type producer,” he says “I make music for a very select group of people. It’s not for the masses. It’s for people who really know their music. If you just get into dance music, you probably won’t be into my tracks. Someone has to be deeper into house to get my music.”

In the course of his career DJ Pierre has been behind over 50 house anthems (from “Acid Trax”, “The Creator” and “Your Old Friend” to Photon Inc.’s “Generate Power” and “Give A Little Love”) and a huge amount of remix work. He carries a prolific and hard-working mentality that can only be fuelled by a deep passion for the genre. Up to the present day he has been keeping a significant touring schedule, regularly playing in New York and throughout European territories. As a DJ he is known for both his unrivalled knowledge and formidable skill behind the decks, his impressive sets continue to amaze dance fans worldwide.

“House is always going to be here. There is always going to be some form of underground dance music. It’s not going to snuff out. People will always have a need to express themselves,” he says “I get a really spiritual vibe from what I do. With the right beat, the right flow, I get a hypnotic feeling from the music I produce. I could be doing something more commercial, but then it wouldn’t be true.”
