The economics of putting a jazz orchestra on the road may be daunting but that doesn’t prevent studio sessions from taking place. Woodwind player Charles Pillow assembled an ensemble two-dozen strong to record Chamber Jazz. The music is arranged with care and allows room for soloists to take turns in pointing the melodic direction. Most of the composition are by Pillow. His history in jazz is acknowledged by versions of Tony Williams and Thelonious Monk Fans of Gil Evans will appreciate Chamber Jazz.
