I come from a strange generation. I was exposed to D&D before I was exposed to acclaimed literature. So when I heard that William Shakespeare was referred to as The Bard, there was a part of me that was thinking in terms of him starting off as a fighter, dual-classing to a thief at 5th level, and then dual-classing again as a druid. I’m not proud of it, but I thought of Shakespeare as a D&D character before I was ever exposed to any of the man’s work.
No Dice: Improv DnD pays homage to this strange connection with a special Shakespeare-themed “DnD” improv show next month. No Dice takes audience suggestions and audience participation to make and “epic comedic role-playing adventure” unfold onstage. Next month they celebrate Shakespeare. Sounds like fun, or according to the tagline: “This time The Bard isn’t just a member of the party..he’s the whole damn game...!”
Next month’s No Dice Does Shakespeare makes it to ComedySportz Milwaukee on 420 S. 1st St. on Aug. 21. The show starts at 10:00 p.m.
