Windfall Theatre opens its 2015-2016 Season next month with a staged reading of John Van Druten’s I Remember Mama. The family comedy set in early 20th century SanFrancisco is far better known as long-running TV show from the early days of commercial television. When the play was originally stage in 1944, the events depicted in the play were a reflection on a part of history that was only roughly 3 decades in the past. To contemporary audiences the play may seem as antiquated as the era it depicts. In any case, the story of a blue collar family in California is as enduring as ever . . . brought to life once more in a staged reading featuring Milwaukee theater icon Ruth Schudson in the title role with Maureen Kilmurry in the role of her daughter Katrin.
Windfall Theatre’s staged reading of I Remember Mama takes place at 3 p.m. on Aug. 2. For more information on this and the rest of Windfall’s upcoming season as it becomes available, visit Windfall online.
