Hardy Gallery
To adapt a common saying: It takes a village to support an art gallery. Door County’s Hardy Gallery commenced the Community Mosaic Project in 2008 to engage the public in the creation, appreciation and subsistence of the visual arts. The concept is elegant: distribute free six-by-six inch canvasses to whoever is interested, grant them creative license to beautify said canvasses as they see fit, synthesize the approximately 300 canvasses into a many-colored mosaic, disassemble and sell the component parts for $30 a pop in order to raise funds for the nonprofit Hardy Gallery.
The eighth installment of the Community Mosaic Project will be unveiled on Friday, July 17 during a reception from 5:30-7 p.m. Until Aug. 30, the mosaic will hang concurrently with the Collection Invitational Exhibition, a popular annual exhibition featuring more than 40 established local and regional artists. Each artist is represented by two works, one of which is a donation that will be auctioned off in the Collector's Choice Benefit to provide necessary operational support for the Hardy Gallery.
Lake Mills Art Festival
Downtown Commons Park
In terms of natural beauty, Lake Mills plays second fiddle to no other Wisconsin city. But the Lake Mills Art Festival (Saturday, July 18, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.) is primarily a celebration of Wisconsin’s artistic beauty. The 10th annual juried festival collects more than 60 Wisconsin artists working in all manner of artistic mediums, from the traditional (painting, photography) to the less common (stained glass, jewelry). LMAF also includes food vendors, live music, activities for the young ones and the opportunity to appreciate the revitalization work being done in historic downtown Lake Mills.

Friends of the Museum Art Fair
Museums Lakefront Campus, 56th St. and Second Ave.
With income from admissions insufficient to cover operating costs, museums need all the friends they can get. On Sunday, July 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. the Friends of the Kenosha Public Museums are holding their 51st annual Art Fair in conjunction with the Kenosha Unified School District Summer Student Art Show. The Fair is comprised of more than 100 booths of arts and crafts, a tent in which kids can make their own Japanese fish kite and fly a boomerang, and the customary food vendors and live music.
