The Danger was born of Kenosha’s rigid punk scene, but soon relocated to Milwaukee to explore more varied, melodic sounds, with a particular emphasis on poppy, British invasion rock ’n’ roll and flashy, T. Rex-inspired glam rock. The band has been playing behind its polished album A Northern City Shift since 2006, but promise that a new disc is on the horizon. Fronted by Liv Mueller, formerly of perpetually underrated local rockers The Lovelies, openers Dark Horse Project mine the thick, austere sounds of the alternative nation circa 1991.

You are completely justified in your concern regarding this individual. Although I commend him for making positive changes in his life, that will never excuse the fact that he violated the law, and as a result, will have to pay consequences for committing a violent crime. He deserves no exception to the rule. Why should the safety of thousands of students be sacrificed for one person, a felon at that!? There are many programs that offer online classes, which would be an ideal alternative for this situation.

Wow. This is a very interesting artice. I’m here to speak on Eugene’s behalf. I know him personally, but without saying how I know him, he really is a changed man. It’s funny how we are so quick to judge. Things like this is what makes people relapse in the first place. Think about it. When criminals get out of jail, there is so much against them. It’s almost impossible for them to get jobs, hard for them to get education (without being humiliated), and basically hard for them to adapt period. When criminals are released from jail, there is so much against them and THAT is what causes them to have to revert back to the same things. And the funny thing too is that there are SO many sex offenders on the UWM campus thats its not even funny. I work here in Milwaukee at a hospital and I deal directly with sexual assault victims weekly. I see them right after they have been assaulted. The sad thing is there are SO many perpetrators walking around that have never even been caught. More than you could imagine. Many of them get away because the victims are too scared to testify. So in reality, there are way more than 15 sex offenders on the campus. Those are just the registered ones. For those at UWM, you are actually probably sitting next to offenders that never got caught and you dont even know. (Sexual assaults occur at a very high rate EVERY weekend. Believe me, I know, because i see the victims.) But the sad thing is the MANY of them dont ever get reported because the victims are too scared to prosecute and many of the police officers actually make the victims feel like it is their fault! So my point is that yes Eugene had made that mistake in the past, but in reality, there are sex offenders walking around EVERYWHERE around the UWM campus, but were just lucky enough that their victim didn’t prosecute. So in actuality, they should be HAPPY eugene has a police escort because all the other hundreds around campus aren’t even known and are walking around freely. THOSE are the dangerous ones because there is no picture of them anywhere and THOSE are the ones that are STILL getting into parties and walking freely around campus. I totally agree that it is a scary thing to have an ex-rapist walking around campus, but think about it, Eugene is honestly trying to better his life so that he can help others like he once. I know him personally, and I can truly say he’s an exception. My God, people are young and dumb and everyone makes mistakes. MY GOD, he was in jail for 22 years! He paid his debt. And if you think he’s going to UWM now just to prey on girls, then why has he been working on the first two years of his degree already while he was in prison!!!! I can see if he was enrolling as a first year student, but he has already been diligent in studying his BUTT off while he was in jail (where there were NO females around!). He doesn’t care about the females on campus or else he wouldn’t have done his first two years while still in prison. That shows that he is really trying to change. He wants to go help others that were once in his place. And he’s a REALLY intelligent man! Yes, people make mistakes, but SOME people can change. Wouldn’t it be nice if he WERE to eventually reach his goal of becoming a social worker to help the THOUSANDS of other sex offenders we have in our city! That would be one small piece to stop this cycle! Yes, MOST offenders relapse, but believe me, Eugene is not like that and he is really trying to make a change and help others that were once in his position. And HE having been in their spot would be able to help them so much more than any of us could. Think about many of these alcohol treatment centers for example. The alcoholics are more likely to get inspiration and strength from someone who once was in their same positions. When the counselor who has BEEN there tells them that they can make it, they are more likely to believe them than if its someone who doesn’t know what it feels like to be in there shoes. When someone close to you dies, you get more strength from someone who’s BEEN through the same thing you did telling you you can make it. Eugene can do the same thing. Criminals, drug addicts, sex offenders all have psychological problems! Do you really think they WANT to do what they are doing? Eugene is definitely not in that state of mind anymore and has LEARNED from his mistake and recognizes he made HORRIBLE decisions in his past. But he’s changed now and really wants to help others like he once was. I know him. He’s the exeption. Let his past be his past! That was 20 years ago!!!! He acknowledges his mistake and has changed! He has so much potential. And look at it like this. If he relapses, then you can say i’m wrong, but if he DOES turn out successful, he will make such a change in this community. He has God in his life now and is TRULY trying to make a difference in this community. He’s been planning this while he was in prison, thats why he started working on his degree BEFORE he even got out! So let’s support him in his cause. And thats why there are police to escort him everywhere he goes. Let him reach his goal! He’s not giving up. That’s why he’s so cooperative with this whole process. So let the police escort him around and everything will be ok! I know him personally, and he has such a beautiful heart. How many of YOU have made mistakes in the past. No matter how messed up they were doesn’t mean you’ll have that mindset your ENTIRE life! For example if when you were a teen you had a problem with stealing or even beating your wife. 20 years later will you still be that same midset EVERYWHERE you go? Maybe, maybe not. SOME people can change. A lot stay the same but SOME people can change. And believe me, EUGENE is one of those people. He doesn’t want people to make the same mistakes he did. That’s why he’s so determined to reach his goal despite the HUMILIATION he’s having to go through. I SUPPORT HIM 100%!!! Let’s just give him a CHANCE! And to make everyone feel more safe as he reaches his goal, he’ll be escorted by police EVERYWHERE on campus. And he’s ok with that. To me, that’s a great solution. In conclusion, i forgot to mention that I know personally, other sex offenders and to be truthful, I cannot say they are all like Eugene. Some of them I would NOT recommend to be on campus because yes, they are questionable. But EUGENE IS DIFFERENT. He has such a beautiful heart and story. Yes he made mistakes in his twenties, but he’s trying to do something positive now. JUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE!! He’ll be in my prayers. I support him 100%!

Thank you for your heartfelt response. I think you raise some very valid and important points. I believe people can change and go on to do great things. Eugene helping others with problems such as these, would be wonderful, he would have the oppurtunity to save a number of victims. I saw an article in the Journal Sentinel saying he would consider online classes. Do you agree that that would be a better alternative?
