There isn't actually a man in the Vermont trio Mountain Man, but the group got the “Mountain” part of its band name right: These three young women play sparse, Appalachian folk music, stripping each song down to its barest essentials. That sound was well-captured on the group's 2010 debut album for Bella Union, Made the Harbor.
