ShepherdExpress and ExpressMilwaukee.com Contest Rules
THEFOLLOWING ARE BASIC CONTEST RULES FOR ANY AND ALL CONTESTS RUN IN THE SHEPHERDEXPRESS OR EXPRESSMILWAUKEE.COM. EACH CONTEST MAY HAVE ITS OWN SPECIALQUALIFICATIONS AND ELIGIBILITY RULES, IN WHICH CASE A SEPARATE ADDITION TOTHESE RULES WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE SPECIFIC CONTEST PAGE, OR AT THE SHEPHERDEXPRESS OFFICE AT
1. All Shepherd Express contests are open toany reader unless specific age is required by type of contest, participatingagency or advertiser, or by law.
2. For prizes valued at $600 or less, onlyone qualifier or winner per family is permitted within a 14 day period. In the eventa winner cannot or does not pick up a prize for any reason, that winner remainsineligible for the 14 day period. For prizes valued at $600 or greater, onlyone winner per family is permitted within a 90 day period. In the event awinner cannot accept prize for any reason, that winner remains ineligible forthe 90 day period.
3. Winners may be required to sign a releaseform, and all winners agree to allow Shepherd Express to use their name and/orlikeness for promotional purposes without further compensation.
4. Employees and agents of the ShepherdExpress and their families, their advertising agencies or representatives areineligible to enter contests on ExpressMilwaukee.com. Employees of other newspapers,TV stations, radio stations and other media outlets in the
5. Winners may not request substitution orother consideration from the originally awarded prize. All prizes, unlessotherwise stated, must be picked up in person, at the Shepherd Express officesany weekday, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, within two weeks of winning. Holidaysand weekends are included in this two week period. Designated winner'srepresentatives will be allowed to claim prizes, provided prior arrangementshave been made. If prizes are not picked up within the stated period, thewinner waives their rights to the prize and said prize becomes the possessionof the Shepherd Express and may be awarded to another listener at the ShepherdExpress’ discretion. The Shepherd Express will not notify winners of timeremaining on prizes to be picked up. It is solely the winner’s responsibilityto claim their prize within the time limit specified. No prizes will be mailedunless specified during contest or if special arrangements have been made.
6. Prizes are non-transferable.
7. The Shepherd Express reserves the rightto revoke prizes if the winner does not meet any or all eligibilityrequirements, even though an announcement may have been made on the air indicatingthat person was the winner.
8. A 1099 MISC Form will be completed andfiled with the Internal Revenue Service for each winner who over the course ofthe calendar year who has won prizes with a total value of $600 or more. Alllocal, state, and federal taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner.
9. The Shepherd Express may, due to theunavailability of prizes awarded, substitute another prize of equal or greatervalue for the prize originally won. The Shepherd Express will not beresponsible, or held liable for prizes awarded to an event that is canceled dueto circumstances beyond our control.
10. If any dispute arises regarding contests,the decision of the Shepherd Express will be final.
11. The Shepherd Express, its agency, andrepresentatives shall not be liable or responsible for any claim, injury ordamage from any Shepherd Express contest or prize awarded in a contest.
12. All contest entries become the propertyof the Shepherd Express. The Shepherd Express may withhold any or all contestmaterials for any reason management deems crucial to the completion of thecontest, or for reasons relating to publicity and/or advertising.
13. Unless otherwise stated, multiple entriesby the same person will be discarded and may be deemed cause fordisqualification.
