Wednesday Concert Series: Midday Classics
Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist
831 N. Van Buren St.
12:15 p.m., July 29
Who says you have to wait until weekend evenings to enjoy live music, classical or otherwise? Hunt around a little and you can find gems like Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist’s Wednesday Concert Series where, year round, you can experience live music from a variety of vocal and instrumental soloists for the mere suggested donation of $3. The July 29 concert features Louis Cucanato and Ross Coughanour; the former a classical guitarist, arranger, composer and graduate of UW-Milwaukee, and the latter a Utah native and baritone currently working on his master’s degree at Indiana University. Together they’ll perform selections from British composer John Rutter's 1979 song cycle, Shadows. The concert will begin with Cucanato’s own composition, Prelude, and the Allegro Moderato movement of the Sonata Romántica by Mexican composer Manuel Maria Ponce Cuellar (1882-1948).
