A Marquette University student-run business program has created a new way to buy local while holiday shopping. The Nest Holiday Pop-Up (157 S. First St.) showcases products from 12 Milwaukee startup companies including Zyn, Cream City Caramels, Green Earth Terrarium, Artery Ink and MKE Shotski.
The shop is a part of Nest Incubator, a project recently started by Marquette students Jack Toner and Isabelle Block that aims to provide support for new entrepreneurs. “Understanding what goes into running a retail location has changed my entire view of entrepreneurship,” Toner, a senior double majoring in Finance and Business Economics with a minor in Biological Sciences, said in a press release.
Nest also hopes to host events after shop hours that will showcase other entrepreneurs. The incubator has partnered with Startup Milwaukee’s TANGIBLE program for a shopping event on Small Business Saturday (November 24).
Shop hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. every day until Sunday, Dec. 23. Those interested in showcasing products at the shop are still welcome to apply.
