Maya, a low-ranking macaque mother in Sri Lanka, struggles to feed her baby Kip and to maintain her relationship with her mate, outsider Kumar. Maya lives in the temple ruins with her tribe, its alphas preventing her from feasting on the easy pickings they enjoy, thus obliging Maya to find food where she can, including underwater or at a human birthday party. Comically narrated by Tina Fey, the macaques sport bowl-cut hairdos as they hop, swing and run from one feeding place to the next.
