Dean Martin presided over a series of celebrity roasts with grinning panels of stars sharing the dais. The archive of material has been issued and reissued in various configurations. The latest DVD release, “Hall of Famers,” collects episodes featuring professional baseball players (and as a bonus, motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel). Martin often looks as if he’s just finished his fourth martini; some of the humor, especially by comedians sharing the dais, remains amusing 40 years on.
