There’s nothing like the kind of Greek-owned, family friendly restaurants spread throughout the Midwest. Prime Minister Restaurant (517 N. Main St., Thiensville) distinguishes itself both for the expected Greek specialties and its international range. For example, sauerbraten with spaetzel and red cabbage, stuffed cabbage rolls and spareribs served over sauerkraut offered among the daily specials evince affection for German cuisine. Italian options go beyond the usual array of pastas with the inclusion of eggplant parmigiana, and a filet mignon meat option is available as an upgrade to Mexican fajitas and Chinese stir fry. Breakfast may be Prime Minister’s apex, specifically its Greek eye-openers. The high point among those is arguably souvlaki and eggs. The same pork tenderloin and white meat chicken prepared with lemon juice, olive oil, herbs and spices served for lunch or supper also makes for a light, invigorating way to start the day with toast or pancakes. Whatever the main course, a desert of galaktoboureko finishes a meal with a creamy custard texture that’s not too sweet; other treats include cake, pie, chocolate chip cookies, rice and tapioca puddings, and a traditional triple-scoop banana split. Friendly, prompt servers round out a reliably familiar dining experience.
