Jazz is the international language spoken on the latest album by Indonesian guitarist Agam Hamzah and his trio, Ligro. Enriched by guest appearances by the alternately dreamy, bluesy, edgy pianist Ade Irawan, the music is highly proficient fusion with knotty melodies reminiscent of Weather Report, shifting rhythmic patterns and Hamzah’s blistering avant-rock excursions on electric guitar. The ensemble is tight and in sync.
