Though he’s rarely seen in front of the camera, TeeGlazedIt is one of the most influential figures in Milwaukee rap right now, a taste-making director whose kinetic, no-budget videos have helped many of the city’s buzziest street rappers build their following. He cranks out new videos by the week (often by the day), a good chunk of which have gone on to clock hundreds of thousands of streams. For many listeners outside the city, his lens is the window through which they’ve discovered the Milwaukee rap scene.
On his new “No Hook” video, a rare foray behind the microphone, the director rounds up some of the many artists he’s worked with, and they’re all plenty happy to return the favor. He’s joined by a who’s-who of Milwaukee street rappers—Lil Chicken, Gwapo Chapo, Lil Axion, Jigg, Mari Boyz, BHG Action, Looney Babie and WeUpNexxt—who all offer a quick taste of their styles. Some of these guys are making real waves, others are just along for the ride, but it’s exciting seeing them all together like this.
