In former Milwaukee Journal writer Phil Nero’s first fiction book, Twice Upon a Time, an accident sends a soldier more than 30 years into the past, to the turbulent winter of 1970, a time when the Vietnam war was still raging. It’s not long before the soldier begins to see clear parallels between that war and the current one in Iraq. Tonight at 7 p.m. at the Shorewood Schwartz Bookshop, Nero will discuss the book and its political undertones.
